Rock Band and Guitar at Woollahra PS
Woollahra PS students will continue to have the opportunity to learn guitar and be a part of the Junior and Senior Rock bands in 2023. Open to years K to 6, students will learn everything from Billy Eilish to The Weekend, to Post Malone, to Nirvana, to Imagine Dragons, to AC/DC, all whilst learning acoustic and electric guitar skills, learning to perform as part of a group and enjoying the excitement and experience of being real world musicians with skills that will last a lifetime. All lessons are conducted in small groups, based on age and skill level. Our guitar and Rock Band programs are coordinated and taught by Ricky Kradolfer and Brendan Iredale.
In case you need a little bit about Ricky and Brendan:
With a love of singing, performing and song writing, Ricky formed and fronted indie rock band City Riots who toured extensively for over a decade. The band released three EPs, one full-length album, enjoyed airplay from triple j, Nova, Triple M and US College Radio (peaked at #87 in the Top 200) and were widely acclaimed by the likes of Rolling Stone. City Riots toured the USA, the UK and Australia countless times touring with the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, The 1975, The Living End, Ball Park Music and British India to name a few and played festivals such as Big Day Out (Aus), Soundwave (Aus), The Great Escape (UK) and CMJ (USA). As well as playing in City Riots. Ricky achieved a Gold record for the song he co-wrote for New Zealand artist Benny Tipene, ‘Lonely’ which debuted at #2 in the New Zealand charts. These days, Ricky’s passion lies in music education running an extensive extra-curricular guitar program in schools across Sydney, Newcastle and Adelaide, and most recently co-founded Amplify Music Education - contemporary, exciting, ready-made classroom music lessons, that inspire and excite students and upskill and empower classroom teachers.
Brendan founded indie rock n’ roll, 4 piece band Blue Velvet. The band released an EP and 2 x lead simgles, toured the country multiple times and was a prevoius winner of triple J unearthed competition.
In 2023 our lesson schedule and ensemble rehearsals will be as follows:
- Senior Rock Band – Monday mornings 8.00am in the hall
- Junior Rock Band – Tuesday mornings 8.00am in the demountable near the hall
- Guitar lessons – Monday and Thursdays - Lessons run throughout the day at a time scheduled for your child.
